The Galloping Gavel is used to enhance inter-chapter relationships. Proper rules of the gavel must be observed in order for it to serve its purposes. 1. The Galloping Gavel will be brought to Conclave each year and transferred to a new Chapter, under the direction of the State Senior Councilor and State Dad Advisor. 2. A Chapter may obtain the Gavel by taking at least on Advisor and at least three (3) DeMolays to a regular stated meeting of the Chapter possessing the Gavel. 3. If two or more Chapters appear at the same meeting to obtain the Gavel, the Chapter with the most points is awarded the Gavel. One point per member, per mile traveled. 4. The Gavel is to remain with the new owner of the Galloping Gavel for at least one stated meeting before another Chapter can own it. 5. Upon each exchange of the Gavel, the receiving Chapter must notify BOTH the State Senior Councilor and the Executive Officer (or State DeMolay office). 6. The Gavel must not remain with one individual Chapter for any longer than three stated meetings; should this occur, it will be necessary for that Chapter to transfer the Gavel to another Chapter of their choice. 7. It is the responsibility of the State Senior Councilor to see that the Gavel is at all times serving its purpose. 8. Any Chapter responsible for defacing
or marring the Gavel or its cover will be assessed the cost of repair and
or replacement.
