| "DeMolay Experience Venture Crew" with the Boy Scouts of America | This activity combines the best of DeMolay with the best of
the Boy Scouts of America. Venturing is for young people 14 to 21 who
want to pursue special interests and activities. DeMolays and
Sweethearts who belong to a DeMolay Venture Crew have access to Scouting
facilities, coaches, and programs in addition to their DeMolay activities. Our initial participation with Venturing is a program for the State Officers and for the participants in the 2003 DeMolay Leadership Conference. This will provide access to the COPE (Challenging Outdoor Personal Experience) rope course as part of the DLC experience this year. DeMolay Experience Venture Crew is Crew #929 in the Cascade Pacific Council, BSA, sponsored by the Oregon State Council, Order of DeMolay. Watch for more joint DeMolay/BSA events and activities. An immediate benefit is the invitation from Cascade Pacific Council for adults associated with DeMolay to complete the Scouting Youth Protection Training program online. | Oregon Mentors | Oregon DeMolay recently became a fully participating and
qualified organization in the Oregon Mentors program. Oregon Mentors
was founded to provide a link between individuals and businesses with worthy
organizations serving young people in Oregon.
Participation means that the Oregon DeMolay program has been reviewed and found to be fully compliant with the standards of Oregon Mentors. This provides us with support for our volunteers, access to expertise and guidance, and credibility with the State of Oregon and other agencies whose employees are seeking volunteer opportunities. | Albertsons Community Partners | Oregon DeMolay is a participant in the Albertsons Community
Partners program. Anyone can carry a simple scan card to use when they
shop for groceries. At no additional cost to the shopper, a percentage
of the grocery purchase is credited to Oregon DeMolay. Even if the
shopper also uses an Albertsons Preferred Savings Card for special savings,
he or she can still also use the Community Partners card! Dad Cole has
his Preferred Savings key chain tag taped to the back of his Community
Partners card. He just asks the checker to scan both sides! So
far, with the program just beginning, we are receiving almost $500 per year.
Want a card? Fill out a simple Albertsons Community Partners Request Form and a laminated wallet card will be mailed from the Oregon DeMolay office. Albertsons describes the program and their other community service activities at the Albertsons website. |
