Click here to Edit (Authorized Editors with Password Only)

The following instructions are for individuals authorized to use csPublisher, the on-line editing utility available for certain pages on this site.  The editable pages are embedded within existing pages on the site to preserve the navigation links, site maintenance, and other features available through Front Page.  This allows anyone with a browser to modify and update the embedded editable pages from any browser without requiring a copy of Front Page or other utility.

LOGGING IN

You have been issued an ID and Password associated with the particular pages you are authorized to edit.

Click on a "Click here to Edit" link, like the one which follows, to access the log-on page for  csPublisher, the editing utility.  Click here to Edit (Authorized Editors with Password Only)

At the resulting log-on screen, enter your ID and Password and select "Login".

SELECTING THE PAGE TO EDIT

You will be presented with a list of folders and web pages you are authorized to view or edit.  The web pages that show "Edit", along with "View" and other buttons, are those you are authorized to modify.  If you are authorized to edit web pages in more than one folder, you may have to browse to the folder containing the web page you wish to edit.  Click on the "Edit" button for the web page you wish to maintain to view the page using the on-line editor.

USING THE EDITOR

The on-line WYSIWYG (What you see if what you get) HTML web page editor interface will display editing buttons and controls along with the content for the page you wish to edit.  With this editor you can make changes to the content and format and immediately see how it will appear when you save and exit.  The edits are real time and online so you are making "live" changes directly to the online web page you are editing.  The interface is relatively intuitive but you may have to experiment with the controls.  There are basic paragraph format controls for justification, bulleting, numbering; font controls for font selection and size in HTML terms; and, importantly, controls for tables.  Note:  font changes may require that you select the text you wish to modify, change it all to a new font, then back to the font you require to pick up both old and new text with the new font.

USING TABLES

Unless you limit your edits to simple paragraphs and pictures, you may find you have the greatest success formatting your page as a table or tables so you can better control wrapping, placement of text and pictures, right and left justification, etc.  This may take some practice but will limit frustration and improve control over placement of elements.  The Table Function controls allow you to establish a table and define the number of rows and columns, lines, cell margins, etc.  You also use the controls within a table to add rows or column, or to merge or split cells.

EDITING HTML DIRECTLY

If you are familiar with HTML, you can select the <> control to view the page in HTML code and to make your edits directly to the HTML.  Selecting the <> control again will present the results of your changes.

SAVING YOUR WORK

On completion of your edits, select File > Save & Exit in order to leave the editor and preserve your changes.  Simply select File > Exit to leave without saving.  Select File > Save to save an interim version of your page while you are working on it, often a good idea for complex edits.  Remember, though, that your interim "saves" are being published, live, to the web site.

GETTING HELP

Each page of the editor has brief on-line help.  Click on the blue question mark for a pop-up help window.
