DLC NOW! Registrations are due soon for Pacific Northwest DeMolay
Leadership Conference August 11-17, 2002 at Camp Adams in Molalla,
OR. Cost is $280. At least two one-half scholarships are available
to each chapter. DAD ADVISORS: Please e-mail exo@oregondemolay.org
with a list of who is attending from your chapter and to whom the two
scholarships are to be awarded. Indicate others who need
scholarships. I will use that information to allocate our pool of
scholarships. Get your registration forms and information from the
Oregon DeMolay website at www.oregondemolay.org. There is a link to
DLC from the home page.

MEMBERSHIP GOAL. The State Master Councilor's membership goal is 85
for the term. We have 6 down thanks to Friendship and Chemeketa
Chapters, and 79 to go. What are YOU doing today to contact a
prospect or make a prospect a new member? Who can you call? Is that
home visit scheduled? What follow-up is needed? There are still
some form 10's to be submitted and processed (hint, hint Advisors!)
but according to the ISC database today, Tigard, Klamath, Mt. Hood,
Pacific, and Chemeketa are showing positive growth...new members in
excess of majorities...for 2002. Special mention to Chemeketa and
Pacific that have been continuously active with "legacy majorities"
to replace. Keep it up! Summer is a great time for fun membership
activities.

GALLOPING GAVEL. The Galloping Gavel is still in Klamath Falls.
They meet at Klamath Masonic Temple, 418 Klamath Ave., Klamath Falls,
OR 97601 at 7:00 p.m. second and fourth Wednesdays. Contact Dad
Lance Leseuer for information. Generally, attending a stated meeting
is required to claim the gavel. During the summer, joining Klamath
Chapter for a scheduled chapter activity or event in Klamath Falls
might qualify if arranged ahead of time with Dad Leseuer and approved
by Dad Beebe, State Awards Director. Notify the SSC, Josh Griffin,
at griffinbench3@yahoo.com when your chapter claims it.

WOFAB. Weekend of Fun and Brotherhood is August 23-25 at the Flying
M Ranch in Yamhill, OR. To clarify some earlier, preliminary
information: cost is $12 per person which includes two nights of
camping and dinner Saturday. Contact State Master Councilor Mike
Newgard for details at mnewgard@attbi.com. A flyer is in the mail to
MC's and DA's.

FRIENDSHIP IS GROWING. Friendship celebrated its first meeting as a
reconstituting Chapter July 24th with a Vow Ceremony welcoming Andrew
Horton as our newest member to our newest Chapter. Thanks to the State
Officers and members of Milwaukie, Tigard-Orenomah, Sellwood, Mt.
Hood, and Beaverton for their assistance with a high quality opening
and closing and model business meeting, setting the pace for our
newest Chapter. Great job!

CD PROMO. DeMolay International has put together a bulk purchase of
the membership promotional multi-media mini-CD ROM which many of you
the seen and enjoyed. Our thanks to Joel Davis and Jeff Kitsmiller
at DeMolay International for this innovative and responsive program.
The objective was to get the cost down to $1 per CD and we are
there! It is not too late to participate in this group buy. If you
make a firm commitment to a purchase quantity by July 31, I can
promise you that you will get them at $1 per CD. After that date,
while we expect to see some cost savings from the current $2.25 or so
per CD, they will still be above the $1 from this special bulk
purchase. If you can commit 50 or more, that is $50 or more, toward
this outstanding recruiting and information tool, please respond
immediately to exo@oregondemolay.org with a FIRM (I'll hold you to it
financially) commitment. This is a great opportunity. Deadline July
31, 2002.

DEMOLAY AUCTION. Mark your calendars now and start working on the
Oregon DeMolay Auction, February 2, 2003. Chapters can raise money
for themselves and for Oregon DeMolay membership activities, and for
the DeMolay Foundation. More details soon, but reserve the date
now. Parents and Advisors: start thinking of businesses and
individuals who can donate items or services for the Auction. Ideas,
suggestions, and information: contact Dad Bob Walliker, President,
DeMolay Endowment Foundation at wallikerb@earthlink.net.
